One of the most renowned architectural treasures in New Orleans is offered to the national real estate market. Built in 1855 to 1857, this opulent raised villa mansion was built by a local green grocer to show off his immense wealth.
The house is a catalogue of period craftsmanship: 14-foot ceilings, plaster moldings two and a half feet deep, and a 27-foot center hallway anchored by a rare circular spiral staircase. The double parlor retains its original Italian marble. The library is finished in gold-leaf bookshelves and Italian silk walls, and a hand-painted Chinese Room sits among the principal rooms.
A commercial-grade kitchen serves the entertaining floor. The Art Deco marble primary bath includes a five-person sauna. Outside, a pool with cabana and bar opens onto gardens shaded by 200-year-old live oaks, in the heart of the Garden District a short walk from St. Charles Avenue.
